Plonk is the creation of Western Australian textiles artist and fashion designer Tessa Moncrieff. Tessa is fascinated by the environment that surrounds her and her family’s history and likes to spend her time creating quirky ‘one off’ items of clothing. In the past she has made work about her mother’s antique collections, in particular the set of 1950’s paper dolls. From these interests she has developed a unique and somewhat whimsical personal narrative that weaves its way through Plonk. She personally makes each piece using humble hand-printed and nostalgic fabrics, appropriate materials indeed, to create the world of Plonk.
